| Principal's Message |
Hello Spartans,
Thanks to Our Wonderful Parents
Earlier this week, I shared a message about being good neighbors and helping keep our surrounding community clean. Since then, several Spartans have told me that their parents had conversations with them about picking up trash and taking better care of our shared spaces. That kind of partnership means a great deal, and I truly appreciate it.
At the same time, I want to be transparent about the next step. Beginning soon, the administration will also start issuing additional consequences, including lunch detention, when necessary to address behavioral issues. This is not something any of us particularly enjoy doing, but giving everyone fair notice helps ensure there are no surprises.
The goal is simple. We want to take care of our school and our neighborhood together. Thank you again to our parents and families for reinforcing those expectations at home.
Congratulations to Our Boys Soccer Team and the Class of 2026
Our boys gave it everything they had yesterday. While they did not advance to the NorCal Finals, their effort, heart, and teamwork made the entire Spartan community proud.
I also want to give a special thank-you to Coach McGuirk, who announced his retirement from coaching at the end of this season. His dedication to the program and to generations of Spartan athletes has been extraordinary. And of course, a heartfelt thank-you to Marti McGuirk, who has long been the team’s ultimate “soccer mom,” supporting the program every step of the way.

Congratulations as well to Patrick McGuirk and all of our seniors whose athletic seasons have wrapped up or soon will. Your commitment to your teams and to Spartan athletics has been inspiring. It has truly been my pleasure to cheer you on.
Thanks to Our Wonderful Boosters
A big thank-you to Helen Cittadino and the Booster Board for generously funding our first-ever rooter bus to yesterday's game.
For those unfamiliar with the concept: a rooter bus is when a school or program funds transportation so students can travel together to support their team at an away game. It may seem like a small thing, but it actually matters quite a bit. Research consistently shows that students who feel connected to their school community - through things like spirit, shared experiences, and cheering for one another - tend to do better both emotionally and academically.
We hope this becomes a Spartan tradition of JV players and fans traveling together to support our teams in big games and strengthen the culture that makes this community special.

Spartan Madness Champion
I’m proud to report that the STAFF team won this year’s Spartan Madness basketball tournament!
During the championship game, I gently reminded our students, “Please don’t break your teachers.” I’m happy to report that both the teachers and their knees survived the evening intact. Thank you to our student players for competing hard while still being thoughtful competitors.

I am excited to share the news on our SciOly team. Below is what I received from the team.
On January 31, Mountain View Science Olympiad's Black Team competed at GGSO Invitational at Stanford. Against some of the most competitive teams from across the state, Black team won 2nd place overall with 16 medals.
How to Get Featured in Kip’s Tips
First of all, I am super excited to hear from a parent or a student who says, “I saw so-and-so or such-and-such in Kip’s Tips. How come you haven’t covered our activity, sports, or event, etc.” Because that means someone has actually read Kip’s Tips! Yay!
In truth, I love sharing the great things happening around our Spartan community, and I’m always happy to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, teams, and programs. The only challenge is that I can’t celebrate what I don’t know about. Please do not hesitate to share your news with me via email at kip.glazer@mvla.net. Please help me by adding a clear title, a short description, and a photo or two. It will be my absolute pleasure to celebrate you!
I hope you all have a wonderful and well-deserved weekend.
With gratitude,
Kip Glazer, Ed.D.

| General Announcement |
Your mindful driving challenge for March is to observe the posted speed limit at all times on your way to school.
Driving 15mph (the typical school speed limit) can feel torturously slow and the temptation is to go faster because you know you can control your car at a faster speed. After all, you’ll get to school faster and you’re unlikely to hit anything because you’re still going “slow”. But adding a mere 10mph will more than double the chance that any pedestrian or cyclist you might hit will be seriously or fatally hurt instead of just bruised. That’s not a risk you want other drivers to take with your children, so don’t take it with their children. This month we challenge you to drive at or under the posted speed limit on the way to school. Your kids are your traffic cops, helping you to find the speed limit signs and monitoring your speedometer.
These Challenges are brought to you by MVHS and the Mountain View Safe Routes to School Program. Check out Mountain View’s Back to School page for tips and resources on getting to school safely.
