Essential Graduation Information:
Graduation will be held in the MVHS Stadium, graduate processional begins at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Graduation is a non-ticketed event. There is no limit to the number of family members or friends who can attend.
Handicapped parking will be available in the front parking lot on the corner of Truman and Bryant. Our staff can assist guests needing transportation from the parking lot to the football field.
Seating for guests will be on the football field itself, which is an artificial turf facility. For your safety, we encourage you to avoid spiked heels.
There will be a professional photographer on site to take pictures of the graduates as they receive their diplomas. Information about purchasing these photos will be sent to families in the coming weeks.
No balloons, artificial noisemakers, or signs that could obstruct the view or detract from all families’ enjoyment of the ceremony are allowed.
Immediately following the conclusion of the ceremony, the graduates will gather in the end zone of the football field closest to the grass fields for the traditional tossing of the caps.
Students, families, friends, and guests will be able to take photographs together following the ceremony and the cap toss.
Graduates may pick up their diplomas or certificates of completion immediately following the ceremony at the Dining Hall, located on the 1st floor of the Student Services Building. To obtain their diploma or certificate, graduates will need to turn in their rented graduation gown; you may keep your graduation cap as our gift to you. Parents will not be allowed in the Student Services Building, but are welcome to wait for their graduate in the Main Quad.
PTSA’s Grad Night will begin shortly after the graduation ceremony concludes. More information will be provided about this event and how to prepare in the upcoming emails.
Student Behavioral Expectations until Graduation:
With the excitement of graduation comes the need for our administration to remind seniors and parents that having met all graduation requirements alone is not sufficient for a student to participate in senior activities and march in the graduation ceremony. These are privileges reserved for students who respect and follow all school rules. A student who violates any section of the Education Code, or school or district regulations, including participating in senior pranks or senior ditch day, risks losing the privilege to participate in senior events, including graduation. Additional consequences may also include suspension, recommendation for expulsion, and/or citation by the police. While such measures are never pleasant, the entire staff is firmly committed to enforcing all school rules to honor others who have followed all the rules that make our school such a safe and wonderful place. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Parents, please take the time to review this document with your students. We want to partner with you so that we are able to create a positive experience for all our students. Seniors, please help us make these few remaining weeks a wonderful experience for all by setting a high standard.
If you have any questions or need clarification on any issues, please contact Jon Robell at jon.robell@mvla.net.
Best regards,
-MVHS Administration
