Hello Spartans:
I hope you had a wonderful week!
|
As the proud principal of Mountain View High School, I feel so incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful community members and parents who give their time, resources, and expertise to our students.
To honor them and award our Volunteer of the Year, our PTSA is hosting the Volunteer Appreciation event next Friday, May 22nd from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
If you have volunteered for any program at Mountain View, you are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee and meet fellow volunteers.
If you are incoming parents, I would also love to invite you to hear about what it takes to become a volunteer at MVHS and how you can get involved.
I would love to see as many of you I can so I can thank you in person!

I was fortunate to watch our Boys Volleyball defeat Branham this evening, and they will play the CCS Championship game this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis High School.
I wish them the best of luck, and let's go, Spartans!
|
Also, this week, I saw our gymnasts, which is always very special.
Every time I watch them, I am amazed by their athleticism! I want to thank Coach Wallace for her hard work!
|
Each year, our amazing Athletic Boosters awards worthy seniors the Schiller Scholarship, in honor of the Emeritus Booster President Brett Schiller.
This year's winners are:
Erick Brito
Naila Rocha
Kambria Conover-Emmert
Nyaira Payne
Ryan Balch
Saahiti Bondalapati
I want to thank Brett Schiller and the coaches for being present at the meeting. I also want to thank Hellen Cittadino and the rest of the Board members for their hard work in supporting our students.

Last but not least, I was honored to attend the last English Department meeting for the 25-26 school year today. The teachers shared the highlights of their year and what they plan to work on next year.
We have so many outstanding teachers, but it was evident to me that they are working together to ensure strong alignment and high-quality instructional practices in the department. They also celebrated their outgoing Department Coordinator, Esther Wu, and welcomed the new Department Coordinator, Lindsay Cohen.
As much as I try, I don't always attend these meetings. And today's meeting reminded me of how we maintain high academic rigor at our amazing school!
Thanks to the teachers who allowed me to snap this photo and, of course, for supporting our students so well.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you,
Kip Glazer
Principal

After over 15 years, the MVLA Speaker Series will be wrapping up its program. During this time, dedicated teams of volunteers have invited and hosted an impressive array of speakers who have addressed parenting, child, and community issues. All of this was made possible with the generous support of the MVLA High School Foundation, the Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF), the Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF), and the Los Altos Mountain View PTA Council (encompassing all the PTA units in LASD, MVWSD, and MVLA). Unfortunately, as speaker costs have risen and attendance has dropped, it has become apparent in the last few years that resources may be better used elsewhere. We are so proud of our volunteers' work and grateful for the support of our funders and attendees over the years. Thank you for supporting parent education in our districts.
If you are interested in attending other local speaker events, please see:

Thank you, MVHS Ambassadors, Ms Camarillo, Ms Williams and our amazing parent volunteers for putting on ten wonderful Spartans PAUSE events this year. Each PAUSE was unique but the main theme was consistent - supporting mental health by offering students tools to help them connect and de-stress. A special thank you to Spartans PAUSE chair, Tammie Choi for helping to create such collaborative events each month. Thank you to our senior ambassadors and parents who are graduating this year. Be sure to take the positive energy of PAUSE with you in this next chapter. Thank you to our therapy dogs and owners, especially Archana Upadhyay and her dog, Mocha who are graduating this year. Thanks for your dedicated service over the years! The last Spartans PAUSE of the year will be Friday, May 29. Enjoy this video highlighting our May 1st PAUSE. Be sure to check out the PAUSE YouTube channel for any wellness ideas or just a quick pick me up.
And a special thank you to the MVHS PTSA and co-presidents, Cindy and Tara for generously supporting Spartans PAUSE year after year. We so appreciate it!
