Good evening, 12th grade parents and families,

We’re down to the final stretch! Next week is your last full instructional week on campus, with End-of-Semester assessments on block days next week, May 28th - 29th. Please know that seniors last day of class is Monday, June 1st.  

In this week’s update we revisit check out expectations to ensure that you fully understand all that is needed to be cleared to walk in graduation.  In doing so, we want to remind seniors and parents that having met all graduation requirements alone is not sufficient for a student to participate in senior activities and march in the graduation ceremony. These are privileges reserved for students who respect and follow all school rules. A student who violates any section of the Education Code, or school or district regulations, including participating in senior pranks, risks losing the privilege to participate in senior events, including graduation. Additional consequences may also include suspension, recommendation for expulsion, and/or citation by the police. While such measures are never pleasant, the entire staff is firmly committed to enforcing all school rules to honor others who have followed all the rules that make our school such a safe and wonderful place.

SENIOR CHECK OUT 

Senior check out status emails will be sent again to seniors and parents tomorrow afternoon.  This entire check out process is expected of all students, including those enrolled in programs not housed at MVHS (CollegeNow, Middle College, VISP, or Adult Ed). Seniors are expected to complete all check out steps, including: (1) returning all textbooks, novels, and calculator; (2) returning all technology (chromebooks, charger, hotspot); (3) clearing any outstanding balances at the Finance Office; and, (4) completing the checkout process with College Career Center (CCC).   If you still do not complete your checkout Monday June 1st,  you will not be able to participate in the Senior Picnic and the 2nd graduation practice as this is mandatory. Please know that this could jeopardize your participation in the ceremony, as these practices are mandatory for participation for graduation.  Keep a lookout for your individualized Senior Check Out Status every Friday of this month.

SENIOR PICNIC

This event is almost sold out!   Due to the venue requirements, this Friday’ 3pm deadline for guaranteed tickets will not be extended.  As was the case with Prom, your ticket to Senior Picnic is non-transferable.   Make sure to purchase your ticket if you plan to attend.  Tickets include transportation to Santa Cruz Boardwalk, buffet lunch, endless soda fountain, games and activities of fun in the sun. Seniors are expected to be at MVHS campus by 8:30am and will return to campus by 4pm.  For their own safety, seniors are not permitted to drive themselves to this event.
