Hello Spartans:
I hope you had a great week!
|
I am excited to invite you to our Back To School Night, this Thursday, August 27th.
This year, we will begin with a "meet and greet" from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m with our counselors, followed by Club Food Sale in the Quad. At 6:15 p.m., I will welcome all of you and then the classroom visit will begin at 6:30 p.m.
During the event, ASB and Ambassador student leaders as well as our counselors will assist you if you need any help. I want to thank Marie Clarke, Lauren Camarillo, Gina Cole, Edwienna Grant, and Jon Robell for their hard work in supporting our student leaders.
During 2nd period, we ask that you give your full attention to a video shared by our wonderful MVLA High School Foundation and the PTSA. I also want to thank LPO for participating in the festivities.
Most importantly, I want to thank our teachers who will be staying late to meet you.
If you see me, please do not hesitate to say hello as I love speaking to our wonderful parents. Looking forward to seeing you!

The boys varsity cross country team was recently ranked #3 in the entire state of California after a highly successful track season and back-to-back CCS championship wins in cross country from the previous school year. They return the fastest 3200m average in the state (9:20), significantly contributing to their high ranking. MVXC athletes Deven Koppala, Liam Tassa, and Yuval Goldberg were also listed among the top 20 NorCal runners going into the current cross country season. The team is already projected to win a third consecutive CCS title this year.
Additionally, Ada Bielinska, a member of the girls varsity team, is ranked #5 in the state for the 3200m going into the cross country season. She was also mentioned among the top 20 NorCal runners.
We wish these athletes good luck at their upcoming meet on September 12th at the Lowell Invitational in San Francisco!

I am so proud to share the good deeds that our students have done over the summer.
I learned that this past summer, Mountain View High School students volunteered as camp counselors at a low-cost summer camp for military families living on Moffett Field.
The camp was created by MVHS students to provide an affordable summer option for families who may not otherwise be able to afford traditional camps. It was staffed entirely by MVHS student volunteers, the majority of whom were student-athletes.
Throughout the summer, these students spent their days leading games, sports, crafts, and other activities for 30 elementary-aged campers each week. They gave their time and energy to help create a fun, welcoming experience for local military children.
The camp and our student volunteers were recently featured in a Mountain View Voice article. Check out the story here.

This applies to any students who are taking a Dual Enrollment (DE) course this year.
Due to a change, please know that we are unable to add any student into a DE course on campus after September 1st.
Why does this matter? Because there are different deadlines for DE and Non-DE courses.
For example, for our DE course:
- 8/21/26 - Drop a class without a W
- 9/1/26 - Last day to add DE Course
- 11/7/26 - Drop a class with a W
For all other courses:
- 8/28/26- Last day to add a new class
- 9/18/26- Level change (up or down)
- 9/18/26- Drop a class without a W
I want to make certain that you are aware of these deadlines so that you can plan accordingly.

Congratulations to Anita Mathew, Manisha Shah, and Sara Kopit-Olson for receiving the MVLA Spotlight Award this week! They were honored at the Board meeting for their immeasurable contribution to our AVID program. We appreciate all your support for our students!

Please know that there is no more parking pass available for sale.
Each year, we have more demand for the passes than the spots that we can provide, and we apologize for the inconvenience this is likely to cause.
Please also know that we reserve the right to revoke any parking passes at any time, especially when we see a student driving recklessly on campus.
|
Speaking of parking passes, now that we know that there will not be any more parking passes being issued, we will begin enforcing the permit parking rules on our campus. If you park your vehicles without a proper pass, we may issue a citation or boot your vehicle.
We also ask that you driver carefully as we had several fender benders in our student parking lot.
We thank you for your continued attention to this important safety matter.

Have a fantastic weekend!

MVHS will conduct a “light-touch” Run, Hide, Defend drill during Tutorial on August 26th. These are the procedures we follow in the unlikely event of an armed intruder being on our campus.
Students will remain in their 2nd period classes; students without a 2nd period will meet in the Dining Commons in the SSB. Our agenda will be as follows:
- Teachers will review our safety procedures and best practices shared with us by our partners at MVPD.
- Teachers will encourage students to sign up for StudentSquare so they may receive emergency alerts via ParentSquare on their cell phones; this is completely voluntary, so if you do not wish your student to do so, please advise them of this. Emergency alerts are always broadcast campuswide over the PA system.
- MVHS Administration will test our emergency communication systems. Families should expect to receive emergency messages via ParentSquare.
- MVPD will be on site to assess the drill and provide feedback on how we can continually improve our practices.
We recognize these drills are no one’s preferred activity, and that they can be stressful and create anxiety. However, being prepared and having the opportunity to practice is important and valuable for all of us. Teachers have received guidance on how to frame the information in such a way that helps students feel empowered with important safety information we hope none of us will ever need. Thank you for your support of this important work.
