Throughout the week, I receive several emails from our students and parents asking me to share their good news in Kip's Tips. That really is the best way to let me know of your request. However, here are a few things to keep in mind.
While I am incredibly happy and excited to do so, I might miss it because of the volume of emails I receive daily. So I want to ask for your patience and forgiveness if I forget to do so. It truly is NOT intentional, and I appreciate your understanding in advance.
If you would like me to share something, below is what I need from you.
- Clear Subject Line - I prefer not to make this up.
- Short Blurb that I can generally copy and paste. - Cross Country did a fabulous job!
- A photo or a flyer - a picture is worth a thousand words and all that.
- Deadline of some sort - I don't recommend you posting the same content more than one week.
Also, I can't promote products or events that are not school-related and/or with an organization that we are associated with. Sometimes I have to say no, and I hope you understand.
Finally, please keep them coming! I absolutely love celebrating our students.

I am incredibly proud of our Cross-Country runners. Below is a write-up from one of the outstanding students in the team, Easton Smith!

The Mountain View Cross Country team traveled to San Francisco for the Lowell Invitational at Golden Gate Park last Saturday, and their success was present across all divisions. Over 80 schools as far as Southern California came to compete.
Ada Bielinska was the individual champion in the varsity girls race, leading her team to a second place finish and beat our rivals, Los Altos. Meanwhile, the Frosh/Soph girls placed third, led by second place and fifth place finishers Ella Nemec and Maddie Nord, respectively.
The varsity boys dominated their race with a first place finish, and are now ranked #27 in the entire nation. They won with only one senior, and Liam Tassa placed third individually. Cody Nemec, Arthur Muller, and Kevin Thompson were among the top five finishers in the JV boys race and swept their race as a team. Mountain View continued its five-year win streak for the freshman boys race, led by individual champion Bailey Stucker, while the sophomore boys team placed third.
Mountain View's boys and girls varsity teams were both selected to compete in the championship races at the Woodbridge Invitational this Saturday in Irvine, facing off against many of the fastest teams in 19 states. Go MVXC!

I am so excited to report that our student newspaper, Oracle, received a Gold Medalist rating for Issue 5 from the 25-26 School year from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, a program at Columbia University in New York City!
Their advisor, Dr. Gilmore, shared with me that the students' score critique for the issue was 915.01/1000, qualifying them for a Gold Medalist rating. You can find that issue r HERE.
I am so proud of our student journalists who published their first issue of the 26-27 today. I look forward to seeing more achievements from them!

I had the pleasure of attending both the PTSA and the LPO meetings this week.
I want to thank the leaders who are volunteering their time to ensure that our parents are informed and feel connected. I also want to thank our staff, Alma Ruelas, Joel Romo, and Heather Morelli, for their time and expertise. I appreciate Mr. Volta and Ms. Faught from the District Office for spending their evening with our parents. Most importantly, I want to thank our student leaders for coming to present and provide tech support.
I am always so impressed by how amazing our students are, and I look forward to seeing them shine!

I had the pleasure of stopping by the Transfer Picnic today. I want to thank Lauren Camarillo and our incredible Ambassador students for their hard work in helping our transfer students feel so welcome!
I was able to practice my Korean with a student who moved from Korea 3 years ago, and I heard from another student who said she connected with other students who spoke Russian.

Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, begins at sunset on Sunday, September 20, and concludes at nightfall on Monday, September 21.
As the holiest day of the Jewish year, it is a solemn time dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection. Many students, families, and staff members in our community will be observing, and some may be absent from school.
Our school fully supports our Jewish families during this sacred time, and I sent a message to our staff this week to let them know.
If needed, please reach out to your child's teacher or the attendance office to arrange specific accommodations.
I wish a meaningful holiday to all who observe.

Since we don't have a football game tonight, I will be heading home early! I look forward to seeing you all at the game next week, however.

Community Services Agency (CSA) is the community safety net, providing critical support services that preserve and promote stability, self-reliance and dignity in Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
Parent Friends of CSA is a new group for families who want to teach their children the value of service while supporting CSA together. Members connect with like-minded parents through family-friendly volunteer opportunities, service projects, and events that make giving back a shared experience.
Join us for a kickoff event for families to pack snack bags for kids accompanying their parents to appointments: Sunday, September 20 10am-11:30am at Landels Elementary School Blacktop, 115 West Dana St, Mountain View. Families with children of all ages are welcome to participate, coffee and bagels will be provided. RSVP or add yourself to the email list for future events here.

Hi MVHS Families,
We would like to invite students to visit the MVHS Tutorial Center! The Tutorial Center is a welcoming space that supports the academic success of students from all backgrounds. We offer free tutoring in a variety of subjects from peer tutors and volunteer adult tutors.
We can help students with:
- Reviewing concepts and completing homework
- Studying for quizzes and tests
- Receiving feedback on essays
- Finding a mentor or tutor and supporting their social-emotional well-being
- Building confidence, asking questions, and maintaining a positive attitude
The Tutorial Center is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Students can drop in during their free period, tutorial period, or before and after school. No appointment is required for drop-in help!
We encourage you to remind your students that the Tutorial Center is a free, welcoming resource available to everyone. Using the center regularly can make a meaningful difference in their high school experience!

Planning is underway for the 17th Annual Spartan Turkey Trot! After this year, our fabulous race director, Helen Cittadino, will be stepping down. We’re looking for someone to carry on this successful community event and fundraiser. The new race director will shadow Helen this year to learn how everything works. Interested? ALSO, the MVHS Library now has a Lost & Found App attached to the library website. If an item is missing, check the MVHS Library website first! Items turned into the MVHS Library are logged immediately!
Unclaimed items (that have been housed in the library for more than 2 weeks) are donated at the end of each month.
