Hello Spartans:
Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week.
|
I am excited to announce our upcoming STEAM Week. I want to thank Gina Dunsmore and our amazing Science Department for taking the lead on this exciting event. I also want to thank other staff members, presenters, and parent volunteers for their continued support. Below is a quick description of the event, and I look forward to sharing more.

STEAM WEEK Mission is to engage students in the interdisciplinary nature of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through hands-on activities, access to STEAM professionals, and STEAM career information. We are pleased to partner with leading technologists from Silicon Valley’s prestigious research institutions and innovative corporations to bring MVHS students a fun and exciting STEAM week, helping to achieve this mission.

I am so incredibly excited to share that our Boys Cross Country team ranked 9th nationally!
I want to thank Coach Hubbs and the rest of the team for working so incredibly hard to support our exceptional runners. I want to acknowledge our students who have listened to hard coaches and worked so hard! I also want to thank our families. Finally, I want to give a huge shoutout to our Athletic Boosters for their continued support for the team. It takes a lot of effort to support our outstanding Spartans, and I am so thankful to so many of you for your support.
Congratulations!

Out of more than 113,000+ applicants nationwide, approximately 1% are chosen for this honor, making him the only semifinalist from the MVLA district and one of only three students selected across all of Santa Clara County.
The next round of evaluations will take place over the coming months, and I hope that he will make it to the final scholars list when decisions are announced in early 2027!
Congratulations and good luck!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you to all who attended the Tea Time Chinese Parent Club’s Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration! It was a joy to see so many students and families come together to celebrate the Harvest Moon, traditionally a time to gather in appreciation for abundance and a good harvest.
Highlights of the evening included vibrant Chinese Yo-yo performances by the Taiwanese American Student Association, a lovely song by Mandarin 1 students, and videos of our Mandarin students performing a traditional fan dance. A special thank you to the PTSA and school administration for supporting this wonderful cultural exchange.
We hope to see you at our Lunar New Year celebration in February!

Put burgers and shakes on the dinner menu and help raise money for Senior Grad Night! HERE is the flyer.

On Friday, October 2, over 500 students got a cheering section for walking, biking, scootering, or busing into school that morning! That was a lot of cars NOT idling in the streets around school.
We all thank the families who choose to commute some way other than by car, including the 443 bikers who biked that day. Many thanks also to the Carbon Free Commute volunteers for coming out at 8am, and to Mr. Sun for donating gift cards to make the commute just that much sweeter. We'll see you on November 6 for our next event!

Shoutout to the 47 Mountain View cross country athletes who attended the ASICS Clovis Invitational in Fresno over the weekend! Two school records were broken on Saturday, the first of which was Ada Bielinska, running 17:41 to smash the girls 5k record that has stood since 2013.
Additionally, the varsity boys re-broke their own school record to win the championship race by nearly 40 points. DyeStat now ranks the boys' team #9 in the country.
Additional highlights included the JV boys' second place finish led by individual champion Ilan Gerber, and the varsity girls who were the 15th fastest overall team.
