Hello Spartans:
Happy Halloween! It was great to see several staff members and students dressed up and enjoying the festivities!

Congratulations to Micah Perkins for being selected as this week's 49ers High School Player of the Week!
He scored the final touchdown at last week's Homecoming game with 23 seconds to go, helping us win the game 51-46! It was so incredibly exciting to watch him lead his team to victory.
Micah was also honored as the Student of the Month for his outstanding character.
I am so happy to see this kind and thoughtful Spartan honored in this way!

Our Advanced Data Structures and AI class field trip to the OCP Tech Conference hosted by Nomad Futurist. The event had panel talks with various professionals that inspired our students. The event organizers also gave our students a close-up tour of the exposition floor. Students got to engage with many different companies and interact with their products in the AI and Data Center space.
I want to thank Dr. Lynette Gillson for her tireless work in coordinating this event and Robert Henely for chaperoning. I also want to thank our teachers for continuing to provide excellent field trip opportunities for our students. Finally, I want to give a shoutout to the MVLA Foundation for their continued support for our CTE pathways.
|
Last night, I had the pleasure of participating in our annual Día de Los Muertos event. I want to thank our Latino Parent Organization for their support for our community, and our amazing students, especially from the MeCHA club, for their hard work in organizing various events. We had our folklorico students and a group from Ms. Camarrilo's class performing at the event, in addition to the Aztec dancers and a Mariachi band.
I appreciate our staff members led by Dr. Heather Morelli for their time and energy. I also want to thank our PTSA for their continued support for this amazing community event. Finally, I want to thank Mr. Volta and the several staff members who attended the event.
|
Finally, I had the pleasure of honoring our 20 National Merit Semifinalists and 79 Commended Scholars during Tutorial today. I want to thank the parents who were able to join us in celebration! The names of these scholars were included in an earlier ParentSquare post, HERE.
I want to acknowledge these students' accomplishments and thank our staff for all their support. I want to thank Ms. Plymale, my assistant, who helped me organize the celebration with cupcakes. I also want to thank the student helpers, Nathalie Zhang, Romi Shiran, and Madline Nord, who read the names and assisted me on stage. Finally, I want to thank Mr. Carpenter, our new Theater Manager, for his help.
Congratulations, Spartans! We are proud of you!

Last but not least, we also had our monthly Pause event during lunch. It was so great to see our students take a pause and connect with their peers.

MV Cares is a program that provides holiday baskets for MVHS families in need. With the help of clubs, organizations, departments, families, and teams, we have supported over 300 families, and we would love your help this year!
There are 2 ways you can help support our families:
- Sign up to be a basket lead: Organize a holiday basket for an MVHS family according to their wish items. We will add a gift card to each basket! If you, your family, your department (Counseling, Math, P.E., etc.), your team, your workplace, or an organization would like to be a “Basket Lead,” please:
- Complete this sign-up form
- Purchase and gift wrap one “wish” item for each family member the gift basket (e.g. for a family of 4, purchasing 4 specific items that they request)
- Deliver items to MVHS on Dec. 10th or 11th
- Donate to the MV Cares fund through LAMVCF:
Make a tax-deductible donation to MV Cares using this link.
Donations are through Los Altos-Mountain View Community Foundation, and will be used to purchase gift cards for each family receiving a basket.
